Iran Arrested These Models For Posting ‘Un-Islamic’ Instagram Photos

Eight models have been arrested by Iranian authorities for posting ‘un-Islamic’ photos of themselves on Instagram.
The arrests are part of an operation that has seen women targeted through the social media platform for posting photos showing them not wearing headscarves.
Tehran’s cybercrime court announced the arrests over the weekend but didn’t reveal the models’ identities, the BBC reports. Investigators also claimed they identified at least 170 models, photographers and those involved in fashion through Instagram.

The arrests were announced during a state television programme broadcast on Sunday that focused on the ‘threats to morality and the foundation of family’ posed by social media, and claimed posts on Instagram from Iran were ‘making and spreading immoral and un-Islamic culture and promiscuity’.
The accounts — like any other — have been used to share photos and selfies of them wearing makeup and fashionable clothes, with some of them gaining hundreds of thousands of followers. But despite the eight arrests, many Iranian Instagrammers still remain active.
Some of the models, though, are believed to have fled the country, Buzzfeedreports.
The arrests, known as operation ‘Spider-2’, targeted women using Instagram – especially those who showed their hair. Women in Iran have been required to cover their hair in public since 1979.

One of the models, Elham Arab, has been charged with ‘promoting Western promiscuity.’ She appeared in front of Iran’s revolutionary court on Monday and was later forced to give a public apology.
She said in court: “All people love beauty and fame. They would like to be seen, but it is important to know what price they will pay to be seen.”
Another model, Melika Zamani, who is also an actor and fashion designer, has also been targeted by authorities.
Her Instagram account – which has 360,000 followers – currently looks like this:
melika1Instagram
It’s not known whether or not Iranian authorities have taken control over her account.
The arrests are seen as on of the latest attempts by the Iranian government to control personal and online expression. In the past, they have routinely detained and imprisoned those who have expressed their views, including bloggers, artists, and activists.
This comes after the Iranian authorities pulled another bizarre move, accusing Kim Kardashian of working for Instagram as part of a ploy to ‘target young people and women’ in the country.

Bleona: The Self-Funded, Independent Pop Star

Bleona Qereti, more commonly known as ’Bleona,’  has been called ‘TheMadonna of Albania,’ and is known for her relentless confidence and provocative performances. She’s released eight albums, self-reportedly sold 1.5 million albums, won multiple music awards, appeared on the cover of over 35 magazines and performed for millions of fans around the world.
What really sets the rising international pop star apart in the entertainment world is her economic model: Bleona is an independent, self-funded artist.
During a recent video chat interview, I bore firsthand witness to Bleona’s notorious enthusiasm as she told me how self-funding has been crucial for defining her career.
“Using my funds instead of a label’s funds, makes me my own boss,” she said. “I have complete control on the creativity, style of music, style of video, what I want to wear, and, ultimately, how I want to introduce myself to the global market.”
Bleona pointed out that for other emerging entertainers, there is a risk when they are signed with a label.
“Every signed artist risks to be presented to his fans as something he is really not or to be shelved because the label just happened to have other priorities, but in my case I am my own priority,” she said. “And at the end of the day, I believe in me and I am spending my own money on me, and that makes it seems safer for any other investor that is thinking to be your partner.”
While Bleona said she hopes that her proven tracks of success will bring her investors, she is determined that one aspect of her career will always remain untouched: “My brand, my rules,” she said.

99% OF BREAST CANCER TISSUE CONTAINS THIS CHEMICAL FOUND IN EVERYDAY BEAUTY PRODUCTS!

99% OF BREAST CANCER TISSUE CONTAINS THIS CHEMICAL FOUND IN EVERYDAY BEAUTY PRODUCTS!

Paraben ester is a widely used preservative in many cosmetic and pharmaceutical products like shampoos, moisturizers, shaving gels, makeup and deodorants.
And that’s concerning in light of paraben ester’s known link to cancer.
In a study that looked at 40 women who were being treated for breast cancer, it was found that 99% of the breast cancer tissue being studied had paraben ester in it.
The highest concentration was found in tissue from the axilla quadrant of the breast, which is the region closest to the underarm where the highest proportion of breast tumors are found.

Studies have shown that paraben ester affects the body a lot like estrogen, leading to diminished muscle mass, extra fat storage and breast growth when used in excess.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency report on the paraben class of chemicals reads:
“Because of the high consumption volume and high lipophilicity of sunscreens, these compounds [parabens] have the potential to enter and persist in the environment and bioaccumulate in tissues of living organisms.”
Other studies have also linked parabens to metabolic, developmental, hormonal and neurological issues as well as various types of cancer.

How do you stay safe?

shutterstock_111520856
As with most other harmful chemicals, avoiding parabens requires that you read labels avidly. The paraben class of chemicals often go by the following names:
  • Methylparaben
  • Ethylparaben
  • Propylparaben
  • Butylparaben
  • Benzylparaben
Remember, though, that parabens aren’t the only harmful chemicals in deodorant. The following chemicals have also been identified to bind to estrogen receptors and potentially cause cancer:
  • Aluminum
  • Antimony
  • Arsenite
  • Barium
  • Cadmium
  • Chromium
  • Copper
  • Selenite
  • Tin
If the idea of pulling out a magnifying glass to scan every cosmetic product before you put it in your cart sounds a little intense, making your own personal care products might be something you want to try.
It’s a lot easier than you might think!
This simple recipe for natural deodorant comes from Wellness Mama.
homemade-deodorant-bar-recipe
All you’ll need are the following ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons of coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons of shea butter
  • 2 tablespoons of arrowroot or organic cornstarch
  • Essential oils
Combine your shea butter and coconut oil in a quart-sized mason jar with a lid. Place this in your microwave until the mixture is just barely melted.
Add the baking soda and arrowroot and mix well. Then, add your essential oils and store it in your fridge. All you’ll need to do is rub a bit on your hand and then rub it underneath your arm.
Another option? Skip the deodorant entirely. If you don’t sweat profusely, soap and water should be just fine!

Kanye West Just Wore Ripped Jeans on the Met Gala Red Carpet

kim kanye
In fashion world, "white tie" is the highest form of dress code. In fact, it's even above black tie (the standard tux-and-gown situation). The 2016 Met Gala had a very specific — if difficult to interpret — dress code of "tech white tie," where guests were encouraged to wear their very finest...just with a futuristic spin. True to form, Kanye West decided to forsake the dress code and do things his own way.
That meant wearing ripped jeans and a T-shirt and what can only be Harry Styles's favorite Saint Laurent boots, artfully accompanied by a bejeweled denim jacket. The clothes were designed by Balmain (as was Kim's insane dress, at left). To top it all off, Kanye popped in a pair of silver contacts, which definitely lent the look a Tron vibe that we're not mad at.

The 2016 Met Gala is basically fashion prom — the biggest night of the year for our industry. Kanye wearing jeans is a true moment, for all the right reasons. Just don't try this at your own formal event...or at least not until you've dropped a masterpiece like The Life of Pablo

Hillary Clinton Just Delivered a Powerful Message about Transphobia

hillary trans video

Hillary Clinton has made it clear that she is a friend of the LGBTQ community, explicitlystating that she supports the Equality Act, and that “we need much more support for [LGBTQ individuals].”
And yesterday, she voiced that support yet again in a very personal message to one transgender woman. Pearl Love, a social worker in New York City, was verbally harassed and physically assaulted on the subway earlier this week, and posted a video of the experience on Facebook. Pearl explained that she was sitting on the train, and a woman began to verbally abuse her and make comments “about how much she hate[s] Trans[gender] people,” and eventually started hitting Pearl. “As you can see it’s definitely a hate crime,” Pearl wrote on Facebook. “She attacked me inside the train. When I retreated she threw all my stuff on the floor and chased me around the train and say she is going to find a stick to hit me. It was a crowded train and everyone heard it but no one helped me.”

Pearl’s story went viral, and when Clinton caught wind of it, she posted a comment speaking directly to Pearl. “Pearl, I’m so sorry that you experienced this,” Clinton wrote. “The all-too-high prevalence of violence and hatred faced by the transgender community — today, in 2016! — is a rebuke to all of us. Every single person deserves to be safe and live free from discrimination and cruelty, period. And transgender people need to hear from every one of us that you are loved, respected, and deserving of equality under the law. Know that you have my support, and I’m on your side.”
Pearl responded to Clinton’s comment on Facebook, writing, “OMG, Yes. I feel loved, My Dear friends, thanks for all support,” and later told Mic that she was surprised by the attention her story and Facebook post garnered. “I didn’t know that it was that serious until people told me, because I’ve gotten used to it,” she said. “I thought, ‘Oh, it was just another woman.’ I didn’t know until people told me that it was not right, that it was assault because it’s happened for so long.”
It’s the sad reality of so many transgender individuals who face violence and discriminationregularly. It’s an epidemic, which is why it’s so important that our lawmakers and leaders take action to protect this community and end discrimination — and Clinton seems set on doing so. “We should ban discrimination against LGBT[Q] Americans and their families so they can live, learn, marry, and work just like everybody else,” she is quoted as saying on her website, where she also shares her full plan for LGBTQ equality.
And, hopefully, as part of that initiative and message, we can also end hateful and hurtful crimes like the one Pearl — and so many others — experienced.

Liverpool fans on The Kop welcome the teams

A number of loyal Liverpool fans will miss out on Europa League final tickets
UEFA have dismissed criticism from Liverpool supporters over the choice of venue for the Europa League final.
The Reds will meet Sevilla in the showpiece at Basel's 38,000-seater St. Jakob-Park on 18 May - but some fans are annoyed that the size of the stadium will see a number of season-ticket holders miss out.
Liverpool will be given an allocation of "at least" 9,000 tickets for the match.
Reds supporters' group Spirit of Shankly said: "We hope that in future years, UEFA will stage the final at a ground that allows more genuine supporters of the final clubs to attend.

Liverpool qualified for the final with a 3-1 aggregate win over Villarreal
"It is crystal clear that this amount of tickets will not be enough... Tens of thousands of supporters will have attended every home game this season and a large number will miss out.
"It is pretty clear that Basel is not best equipped to deal with such large numbers that we have witnessed in previous years."
UEFA spokesperson Pedro Pinto maintained the decision to hand Basel hosting rights for the final was taken with great care.
"UEFA tends to select slightly smaller, top-quality venues for the UEFA Europa League final," he said. "This means UEFA can give more of its national associations an opportunity to host a club final."

Video shows Navy Seal's death was result of intense combat with Isis

Video footage obtained by the Guardian shows the grueling firefight between US special forces, Kurdish commandoes and Islamic State fighters this week, in which a US Navy Seal was killed.
The footage – filmed on a cellphone during the battle, which lasted more than half a day – reveals the extent to which the US military is once again engaged in intense combat in Iraq.

Provided to the Guardian by the lieutenant of an elite Kurdish peshmerga unit, the video shows a convoy of four by four vehicles coming under fire near Tel Osqof, a Christian town about 30km north of Mosul.
Amid the crackle of gunfire, peshmerga fighters and at least six US troops take cover behind an unarmored pickup truck on an arterial road leading into the town.
One of the Americans appears to be saying “I don’t have a gun”, as another says, “I have a gun over here.”
A peshmerga shouts: “Please save up your bullets.”
Another peshmerga fighter asks: “Can we not ask for AK-47 bullets from the Americans?”
Lieutenant Saad, the peshmerga fighter who shot part of the footage, praised the US forces that aided the Kurds in repelling the Isis assault: “If it was not for the American firepower, we would have more casualties. They are really good fighters.”
Special Warfare Operator First Class Charles H Keating IV of San Diego, who hailed from Arizona, became the third US casualty of the latest US war in Iraq.

Model Iskra Lawrence Just Shut Down Thigh Gap Photos with One FLAWLESS Instagram

Essena O’Neill shattered the Instagram veneerwhen she revealed how social media stars manipulate pictures to make themselves look flawless, when in fact they look like everyone else. When she quit Instagram, Essena let us know that certain poses can make you look skinnier, filters make your skin look smoother, and makeup is what gives you that perfect #Iwokeuplikethis glow.
If Essena shattered social media tricks, Iskra Lawrence is grinding up the broken pieces. In an Instagram picture, the model showed that even thigh gaps can be faked.

In her split-screen photo, Iskra shows herself standing in a regular pose, with thighs touching, in the picture on the left. In the one on the right, Iskra pops her hips back, causing her thighs not to touch. The photo shows how easy it is to fake something on the internet.
